Iyengar Yoga

Yoga Master BKS Iyengar is internationally recognized as a leading authority on hatha yoga.

The Iyengar approach is respected worldwide for its vigorous style and its sophisticated understanding of physical movement.

It emphasizes a balance among strength, flexibility and the building of endurance.

Precision and attention to the more subtle aspects of posture and breath promote the development of self-awareness and the integration of mind and body.

The method is safe, orderly, and progressive and the postures are adjusted to meet the conditions and needs of each student. Among the many innovations introduced by Yoga Master B.K.S. Iyengar is the use of elements or "props" (belts, chairs, ropes, bolsters) making the benefits of yoga accessible to everyone, regardless of the practitioner's physical condition or age.

Yogacharya BKS Iyengar was born in India in 1918 and has been teaching from the age of 17.

Today, his daily practice at his 95 years old is an inspiring example.
